    Spotlight on Grupo Caribe

    By: Sounni de Fontenay
    Nov 29, 2000

It's Friday night, you hunger for some dancing. You find a nightclub where the rhythms are slammin' and the crowd is burning up the dance floor. Grupo Caribe is the band and their Mambo/Salsa dance music is electrifying the atmosphere. Led by Sergio Rivera on piano, Grupo Caribe brings the Big Band sounds live in clubs all over the New York metropolitan area. Experience, love for the music, and a desire to ignite the passions of salseros is the mix which Grupo Caribe brings to any show and to now a second CD, "Ritmo Nativo." Following on the acclaim of their freshman release, "Son De Melaza," "Ritmo Nativo" brings the traditional roots of salsa into the modern age. In a recent phone interview, Sergio spoke with 'LA'Ritmo.com about the band, the music & the future...
