    Puerto Rican Day Parade
Sunday, June 13, 1999, New York City

    Frankie Negron

On Sunday, June 13th, 1999 the National Puerto Rican Parade marched down 5th Ave. for the 43rd time in history. To celebrate this grand event, I went to NY to pay homage to my heritage and be proud to say, "YO SOY BORICUA---PA que tu lo SEPA".

    Marc Anthony

The Parade draws over 3 million spectators from all over and transforms New York into one big Fiesta Patronal (Parties thrown into each town center in Puerto Rico during the summer months). There were tons of live entertainment. Everyone from Marc Anthony to Jerry Rivera participated in this year's parade. The crowds were loving every minute of it, chanting the Frankie Cutlass hit, "Puerto Rico---ho, Puerto Rico--ho" This was by far the best parade I have attended in recent years.

Brenda K. StarrI believe that this year, over all, every one was feeling more patriotic and dare I say, "more orgulloso de ser Puerto Riqueno". The entertainers were feeling the people's love for them and everyone was more than happy to see them. George Lamond and I spoke about it and he was very pleased on how he was received by the public and he can agree that it's an experience matched by nothing else. I took a few pics that I'm sure you will enjoy and if you plan to be in the NY area next year, you can find out when the parade will be taking place by looking up www.prparade.org or you can rely on us to bring you the pics.

    Que Viva Puerto Rico!!
