La Excelencia

La Excelencia (formerly Los Calientes) is the new sensation in salsa music. Their powerful rhythms are known to ignite audiences into dancing frenzies. With a mix of traditional salsa grooves and scorching modern arrangements, their sound is distinct and innovative.

The Band was assembled in 1996 by conga player Jose Vazquez-Cofresi upon arriving in Louisiana, with the assistance of timbale player Julian Silva. Within a year, they would headline events and pack in capacity crowds wherever they played. They now relocated to New York City, due to signing with Nuevo Mundo Music, LLC.

This award winning band has performed at countless music festivals such as the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival, the City Stages Music Festival, the Austin Salsa Music Festival where they headlined with salsa legends.

La Excelencia were voted Best New Latin Band in Offbeat Magazines Best of the Best Awards and were also picked to perform as a featured performer at the prestigious 2000 Emerging Artists and Talent in Music Conference (also known as the EATM conference) in Las Vegas.

They wasted no time in making a name for themselves in New York City. Shortly after arriving, they performed at CMJ Music Conference, Sob's, Club Melao, and Gonzalez y Gonzalez just to name a few.

La Excelencia are one of the best salsa bands on the market today, and continue to delight sold-out crowds on tour with a highly successful concert series.
