Grupo Konga

Grupo Konga was founded in 1995 with the intention of playing a selective repertoire of salsa music. This selective and constantly changing repertoire includes some original music but mostly classics of yesterday. These classics include songs recorded by artists such as Johnny Pacheco, Richie Ray and Sonora Poncena, just to name a few.

Ramon Llobel, the founder, is a percussionist from Columbia who started playing the conga drums at a very early age. Ramon is no new-comer to salsa music. He has played for such groups as Grupo Niche, Gali Galiano and Grupo Clase.

Ramon Llobel has taken Grupo Konga to play in such locations as Gonzalez y Gonzalez, S.O.B.'s and Club Bistro Latino.

Ramon believes the public deserves to see and hear the best possible performance from his band every time he plays; for he takes his music very seriously. Ramon is now working on his first CD, which will soon be released on the market. Grupo Konga hopes to reach as many audiences as possible. Because of Ramon's commitment and love of music, the public will always hear salsa music at its best.
